OH, THOSE ACHING BONES!

During the Baby Boom years (1946-1964), nearly 76 million babies were born in the United States, about 4.3 million in 1957 alone! As those “boomers” steadily get older - and we all do - the health issues related to aging are becoming an increasing area of concern for the entire nation. Among the most common of these ailments is, quite simply put, aches and pains. Many of those aches and pains can be attributed in some way to arthritis or other chronic joint conditions. In fact, about 59 percent of Americans 65 and older are affected by these conditions. That’s a lot of aching bones!
The good news is that while for most of us, arthritis and joint problems can’t be totally avoided, we can indeed reduce the impact of these disorders on our general health, and in some cases, we may even hold off the onset, if not altogether, then at least for some period of time.
Factors that contribute to these chronic joint conditions and pain include obesity, athletic strain, and sugars and fatty acids out of balance in the body. In short, it is the way we live these modern lives of ours that gives us pain! Over-processed food, the lack of regular moderate exercise, exposure to toxins in the environment, and the food and water we take in - it all adds up to a recipe for joint disaster.
Of particular concern is the imbalance of essential fatty acids in the typical Western diet. There should be roughly equal amounts of omega-6 and omega-3 derivatives for optimum health and proper regulation of inflammatory processes. The ideal ratio of arachidonic acid (an inflammation-promoting omega-6 derivative) to EPA (an inflammation-controlling omega-3) is 1 to 1. In the average American, this ratio is about 20 to 1, meaning that our bodies have a highly inflammatory environment. Add to this the inflammatory effects of excess sugar consumption, and it's easy to see why inflammatory processes often get out of control.
What this means is that our bodies overreact with too much inflammation for a given injury or strain. This causes pain that is out of proportion and hard to get under control.

HELP IS JUST A PHONE CALL AWAY
The Joint Support system from Scalarcoren targets the problem both at the site of the pain and the source of the conditions contributing to the pain. Two of the products in this system are applied topically -- Natural Balance Plus and Pain Away -- addressing the more immediate needs of reducing pain. The other products work more broadly throughout the body, going to the source of the conditions leading to pain. Let’s look at each of them individually:

NATURAL BALANCE PLUS
Where there is strain or injury and resultant inflammation, there is disruption of the normal processes that support myelin, the fatty material that insulates nerve fibers. This contributes to the pain problem.
The hormone progesterone has been found to play a key role in myelin production and support, so providing extra progesterone at a site of inflammation can help with control of the associated pain. It also helps promote healthy bone formation and maintenance.
Natural Balance Plus is a source of bioidentical progesterone (exactly the same as the progesterone produced in our bodies) derived from natural plant sources. Progesterone is a fatty molecule that is easily and readily absorbed through the skin, so this product comes in the form of a topical crème. Natural Balance Plus also contains arnica oil, a source of sesquiterpene lactones that help further reduce inflammation and decrease pain.

PAIN AWAY
We’ve all felt it - who goes through this life without experiencing some pain along the way? And it is probably because it is so common that we often fail to realize the full complexity of pain as a body process.
Pain triggers the release of several biochemical's, many of which cause inflammation, a process characterized by swelling, increased circulation and temperature, and pain. While we tend to associate this entire process with the negative impact of the pain, the inflammation is actually the body working quickly to protect the injury site from further damage, and clearing damaged cells so that they can be replaced by healthy ones during repair. The increased circulation and temperature help speed the repair process. The swelling is due to healing fluids bathing the injury and cushioning it from more injury. Of course, when the inflammation is prolonged or out of control -- as is the case with arthritis, for instance -- it can actually destroy body tissues, like joints. The inflammation itself typically results in more pain, further complicating the scenario.
Pain Away from Scalarcore works quickly at the area where it is applied to settle down the pain process. The natural herbs and ingredients that provide the soothing properties of this effective topical pain reliever are delivered directly through the skin to the underlying tissues and joints via a proprietary transport system made up of DMSO (dimethylsulfoxide), pH balanced limonene (an essential oil from citrus rind), and wintergreen oil. Arnica, ginger, calendula, and St. John’s Wort are included for their anti-inflammatory effects. Mahanaryan oil, cayenne, and menthol help reduce the sensation of pain. Pain Away is such a powerful pain relief formula that just a few drops deliver soothing warmth and pain relief within mere seconds of application.

OMEGA-9 +
Fatty acids are the main components of all cellular membranes, membranes that regulate what goes in and comes out of cells and help protect the cells against viruses, bacteria, and even allergens. Fatty acids also serve as precursors to numerous cell-signaling compounds that regulate immune activity and modulate inflammatory processes. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are among the 50 or so nutrients that been identified as being necessary to sustain life and good health. As mentioned before, a proper balance of EFA’s and their derivatives is important for proper regulation of inflammatory processes within our bodies.
Omega-9 + from Scalarcore contains derivatives of one of the most important groups of EFAs - the omega-9’s. Omega-9 EFA’s, like omega-3’s, help tone down excess inflammation, and they are particularly good for improving the pain associated with this. They are taken by mouth and require a period of time for effective levels to build up within the body.
One of the problems historically with making omega-9 products marketable was that it was expensive to produce them in pure form. Then, in 1997, a team of researchers located a natural rainforest plant from which they could extract the key long chain fatty acid of one of the most beneficial groups of omega-9’s. It was the African kombo nut, which provided a ready and affordable source of omega-9 EFA’s.
Scalarcore’s Omega-9 + contains cetyl-ester derivatives on omega-9’s, which are even more effective than the plain forms. This awesome supplement also contains boswellia serrata, alfalfa juice extract and bromelain, which further reinforce its anti-inflammatory benefits.

eN-ZYME
Supplementing with enzymes to ensure proper digestive processes is an important part of a program for maintaining good health. Enzymes function in the body in two essential ways. They can be thought of as the “deconstructionists” of nutrition. One of their primary functions is the digestion -- or breakdown -- of various food items and even toxins in the body.
However, enzymes also play a very powerful role as “aiders and abettors” in many body systems and functions. They help speed along different body processes, including the clearing of debris and rebuilding of damaged tissues at sites of injury, disease, surgery, etc. They are essential for the normal resolution of inflammatory processes (and the pain associated with them).
Scalarcore’s eN-Zyme, when taken on an empty stomach, will be absorbed and carried to body tissues and sites of inflammation, where it can offer effective metabolic support. The proteolytic enzymes in this formula - protease, peptidase, bromelain and papain - are the main participants in this activity.

CLARK’S MINERALS
About 80 years ago, a rancher from Utah drank from a refreshing spring long held in high esteem by the Piute Indians for its healing powers. That rancher - Thomas Clark - experienced an amazing recovery from his many ailments not long after. What he had discovered was no magic potion. Instead, it was fresh spring water dense in essential and trace minerals. The spring ran through the remnants of a prehistoric rainforest, and it was full of more than 70 major and trace minerals in colloidal form, meaning they are easily absorbed and available for use in the body. Clark developed a method for extracting and concentrating these colloidal minerals into a convenient liquid form.
Minerals are inorganic substances our bodies need to complete a whole host of everyday functions, from thinking to growing strong teeth and bones, from breathing to metabolizing sugar. They help regulate our body fluids, they assist in the transmission of nerve impulses, and they serve as cofactors for the enzymes that speed and enhance cellular metabolism.
Most people are deficient in several trace minerals. Supplementing with a product like Clark’s Colloidal minerals can effectively correct these deficiencies. People with musculoskeletal pain often notice quick improvement of their pain as these deficiencies are resolved.

IMMUNAL
The process of inflammation is an action of the immune system. Nutrient substances which promote proper functioning of the immune system can be very useful for regulating the level of inflammatory response to injury and for decreasing usually destructive autoimmune activity.
Scalarcore’s Immunal is a potent combination of immune enhancing and regulating nutrients. These include acemannan from aloe vera, beta glucans from medicinal mushroom and grain sources, larch arabinogalactan, and astragalus extract. In addition to providing immune-regulating polysaccharides, the astragalus extract contains potent adaptogens which help the body more effectively handle various forms of stress. Larch arabinogalactan serves as a direct immune regulator and also as a “prebiotic” -- promoting the growth and activity of “friendly bacteria” in the intestinal tract. These bacteria produce signaling compounds that help regulate proper immune activity.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
Statistics show that close to 22 million Americans regularly take prescription painkillers. Add in the numbers of people using over-the-counter products, and you can begin to get the full picture of the impact pain has on American life. The recent revelations of dangerous side effects that can occur with some of the most popular pain medications has left many people without drugs they had relied on, or wondering about the safety of those still available.
Fortunately, there are some safe and natural options. Eating the right kinds of foods and getting regular moderate exercise can be very helpful. Scalarcore’s Joint Support System can offer additional relief of inflammation and associated pain through natural and safe mechanisms.
For local, temporary relief, try the topical products, Natural Balance Plus and Pain Away. Try applying Natural Balance Plus over the affected are, rub it in well, wait a few minutes, and then apply Pain Away. In addition to getting the benefits from both of these products, the penetrants in Pain Away will help drive the progesterone in Natural Balance Plus to a deeper level for more relief.
With Omega-9+, the needed loading can be achieved by taking 2 capsules twice per day until the first bottle is finished. For even quicker loading, try 2 capsules 4 times per day until a bottle is consumed, then go to 2 capsules twice per day for another bottle. After either of these loading options, go to maintenance with 2 or 3 capsules per day, as needed.
Clark’s Colloidal Minerals are usually taken by mixing 1 capful in a glass of juice or water each day. It can be taken at a doubled or quadrupled amount to correspond with the loading regimen for Omega-9+, then scaled back to the usual amount for maintenance.
Take 2 or 3 eN-Zyme capsules on an empty stomach - midway between meals and/or at bedtime - to get metabolic support and help with inflammation. Immunal is a product that should be “cycled” so that its effects on immune activity are maintained. Take 3 capsules per day for 20 days (this will be a bottle), then wait 7 to 10 days before taking more.
